Paediatric Sleep Consulting in Guelph

Certified paediatric sleep and potty training support for Guelph families, delivered in your home or virtually across Wellington County.

Guelph is a specific kind of family city. Population roughly 145,000, anchored by the University of Guelph, with substantial academic and knowledge-sector employment, a healthy concentration of public-sector and healthcare professionals at Guelph General and the Homewood, and a family demographic that skews toward first- or second-child households, strong reader/researcher parents, and a notable share of families who’ve chosen Guelph specifically for its walkability, its schools, and its small-city scale.

Guelph parents tend to do their research before booking a consultant — and tend to appreciate a consultant who’s willing to explain the reasoning, not just hand over a plan. If you’ve already read Ferber, Weissbluth, the PPOS literature, or the recent infant sleep consolidation work and you want someone who’ll engage with what you’ve read rather than start from zero, this is exactly the kind of practice you’re looking for.

Sleep Ready is a Canadian-certified paediatric sleep and potty training consultancy serving Guelph directly. I’m Milos — a twin dad, a 10+ year CPR and First Aid instructor, and a certified sleep consultant with four specializations from the Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Parenting: general paediatric sleep consulting, newborn sleep (0–3 months), special needs sleep, and child-centered potty training.

Guelph families

Who I work with in Guelph

Guelph families fall into a few recognizable groups, and each comes with its own sleep architecture.

Downtown, Old University & the Ward

Old University, Exhibition Park, St. George’s Park, the Ward, St. Patrick’s Ward, Onward Willow. Older character homes — older windows, radiator heat, imperfect blackout in 100-year-old bedrooms — and walkable neighbourhoods with their own sound profile (Goldie Mill, Royal City Park, the train line, the downtown evening).

South end & Kortright

Kortright Hills, Westminster Woods, Village by the Arboretum, Pineridge, Clairfields. Newer subdivisions, larger homes, better blackout potential, and the standard big-house sleep challenges around HVAC zoning and monitor distance.

West end & East end

Willow West, Parkwood Gardens, West Willow Woods, Grange Hill, Eastview, Victoria North, Watson Parkway. Strong family neighbourhoods, often with multiple young children, often first-home-purchase families in their late twenties and thirties.

University-adjacent academic families

A notable share of my Guelph practice is parents employed at the University of Guelph, often in the sciences, with a strong preference for evidence-based work and willingness to engage with the research behind the recommendations. Academic families make excellent clients because they ask good questions.

What we usually work on

What Guelph parents call about

Guelph parents often arrive at the consultation having read extensively and looking for someone to help translate the literature into a plan that fits their actual child.

Newborn sleep support (0–12 weeks)

Particularly families delivering at Guelph General Hospital. The work in the fourth trimester is not “training” — it’s helping you build a sustainable rhythm calibrated to whatever’s actually true about your child and your household.

The 4-month sleep regression

Reliably arriving on schedule and often catching families off-guard when the first three months went well. Not actually a regression — a permanent neurological shift in how your baby sleeps.

Sleep training (4 to 18 months)

Often for families who have already tried pieces of multiple approaches and want help integrating what’s working from each. I’m happy to walk through the reasoning behind any specific recommendation, including the evidence base where one exists. I do not do cry-it-out unless a family specifically requests it.

Toddler & preschool sleep

Bedtime battles, early wakings (especially common in older downtown homes with imperfect blackout), the crib-to-bed transition, and the return of overnight wakings with daycare illness.

Potty training (20 months – 4 years)

Child-centered, readiness-based — not the three-day internet methods. Guelph has strong daycare density (YMCA-Guelph, Kids Can Fly, Wee Watch, plus a substantial home-daycare network); a share of my potty-training calls involve daycare-deadline pressure. I’ll help you push back on unrealistic timelines while still producing an outcome.

Special needs sleep

Neurodivergent and medically complex children. Guelph families are often connected into KidsAbility, Trellis, the Homewood, or McMaster Children’s Hospital. My role is to complement the medical and developmental team, not to replace it.

In-home visits

In-home visits across Guelph

I offer in-home sleep consulting across all of Guelph, including:

  • Downtown
  • Old University
  • Exhibition Park
  • St. George’s Park
  • The Ward
  • St. Patrick’s Ward
  • Onward Willow
  • Two Rivers
  • Brant
  • Central West
  • Junction
  • Willow West
  • Parkwood Gardens
  • West Willow Woods
  • Grange Hill
  • Eastview
  • Victoria North
  • Clairfields
  • Kortright Hills
  • Kortright East
  • Kortright West
  • Pineridge
  • Westminster Woods
  • Village by the Arboretum
  • South-end developments

Don’t see your neighbourhood? Ask — I almost always say yes.

An in-home visit is typically 90 to 120 minutes and includes a full environmental audit. Guelph’s mix of older downtown homes and newer south-end subdivisions produces very different environmental audits, and the plan gets calibrated accordingly.

Virtual option

Virtual consulting for Guelph families

Virtual consulting is delivered over secure video with written follow-up plans and text-based support between sessions. Outcomes are functionally equivalent to in-home for most presentations.

Virtual is particularly common for Guelph families because of how many are connected to GTA specialists they already see virtually — adding a sleep consultant to that virtual rhythm is straightforward.

Sleep Ready × Life Safe

Evidence-based sleep work, paired with current paediatric First Aid.

Guelph families — particularly academic and healthcare-sector families — are often attuned to the value of comprehensive, current paediatric First Aid and CPR training for every adult in the child’s life.

Life Safe is my sister practice offering paediatric-specific First Aid and CPR. Sleep Ready offers integrated bundles combining sleep consulting with family First Aid certification — many Guelph families find the bundle is the right moment to ensure every adult in the child’s life is properly trained, with current certifications.

Credentials

The training behind the work

Four certifications from the Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Parenting — Pediatric Sleep Consulting (General), Newborn Sleep (0–3 months), Special Needs Sleep, and Child-Centered Potty Training. 10+ years as a CPR and First Aid instructor. Father of twins. All recommendations align with Canadian Paediatric Society guidance.

Guelph-specific FAQ

Common questions from Guelph parents

Are sessions evidence-based? I want to see the reasoning, not just a recipe.

Yes. I work in an evidence-based framework aligned with Canadian Paediatric Society guidance and am happy to walk through the reasoning behind any specific recommendation — including the literature it draws on and the cases where the evidence is genuinely contested. Many of my Guelph clients are exactly this type, and it’s one of the engagement styles I enjoy most.

Do you work with Guelph General families?

Yes. A meaningful share of my Guelph newborn-sleep practice involves families delivering at Guelph General Hospital. I coordinate with your paediatrician where appropriate and never contradict medical guidance.

Do you work with KidsAbility families?

Yes. A meaningful share of my special-needs Guelph practice is with families connected into KidsAbility, Trellis, the Homewood, or other local developmental services. My role is to complement their developmental team — never to replace any part of it.

Do you travel to Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo from Guelph?

Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo are primarily served virtually, with some in-home visits case-by-case. Virtual outcomes are equivalent for most presentations.

Evenings and weekends?

Yes. Virtual sessions available evenings; in-home visits available weekends subject to schedule.
