Information for clinical referrers considering Sleep Ready.
Sleep Ready is a paediatric sleep and potty training consultancy serving Canadian families. We work in coordination with primary medical care, not in place of it. This page outlines what we do, what we don’t, who we serve, how the referral process works, and how to reach the founder directly with clinical questions.
Practice at a glance
What we do — and what we don’t.
We are a consulting service, not a medical provider. The boundary matters, and we’d rather over-clarify it than risk a misunderstanding. The list below is exhaustive on what we don’t do; the “what we do” side is representative, not exhaustive.
What Sleep Ready provides
- Comprehensive paediatric sleep intake (medical, developmental, sensory, behavioural)
- Custom written sleep plans calibrated to the child’s age, family context, and goals
- Active implementation support during the engagement window (text or voice memo)
- Coordination with the child’s existing medical team via signed Release of Information
- Specialty pathway for autistic, ADHD, sensory-sensitive, and medically complex children
- Specialty pathway for child-centred potty training, with daycare-pressure scripting
- Specialty pathway for twins and multiples
- Recognition of clinical patterns warranting medical escalation, with referral back
- Optional integrated paediatric CPR and first-aid training (via sister practice Life Safe)
What Sleep Ready does not provide
- Medical diagnosis or differential diagnosis of any condition
- Prescribing, recommending, or modifying medication dose or timing — including melatonin
- Independent management of medically significant sleep concerns (e.g. suspected OSA, central apnea, RLS, parasomnias)
- Replacement for paediatric sleep clinic referral when one is indicated
- Mental health treatment, psychotherapy, or psychiatric care
- Custodial overnight childcare (in-home support is consultation-based)
- Diagnostic assessment for autism, ADHD, or other developmental conditions
- Promises of specific clinical outcomes
Who Sleep Ready is well-positioned to support.
If a patient’s sleep concern doesn’t fit one of these populations, we will refer back rather than scope-stretch. Roughly one in six discovery-call assessments ends with a recommendation to a different category of provider.
Typically-developing infants & toddlers
4 months and older (adjusted age for premature infants). Active behavioural sleep support, schedule-building, and parent coaching during implementation.
Neurodivergent children
Autistic, ADHD, sensory processing differences. Regulation-first, sensory-aware framework. Coordinated with developmental paediatrics and OT where applicable.
Medically complex children
Including epilepsy, complex airway, feeding tubes, genetic syndromes. Coordinated with neurology and complex care. Life Safe integration available.
Twins and multiples
Synchronization strategy, shared-room protocols, and explicit overnight responsibility division. Founder’s lived experience with 10-month-old twins.
Toddler potty training
Child-centred, readiness-based framework. Daycare-pressure conversations, constipation-aware. Special Needs Potty pathway for neurodivergent children.
Families navigating regression
4-month and 8/9/10-month sleep transitions, post-illness destabilization, daycare-start regressions. Often single-package or check-in engagements.
How a referral typically progresses.
The flow is the same whether the referral is verbal, written, or family-initiated after a conversation with you. There is no fee or paperwork required from your office to refer; the discovery call is free for the family.
You mention us
Verbally, in writing, or via the referral card (linked below). The family contacts Sleep Ready directly through sleepready.ca/contact.
Discovery call
15 minutes for sleep/potty, 20 for Special Needs. The family describes the situation; the founder assesses fit and recommends scope, declines, or refers elsewhere.
Coordination, if requested
If the family signs a Release of Information, you’ll receive a brief summary of the engagement scope and any clinical observations relevant to your care.
Engagement & handoff
The engagement runs 2–8 weeks depending on scope. If patterns warranting escalation emerge, we contact you (or instruct the family to) before the engagement closes.
On clinical patterns and escalation
During every intake and throughout every engagement, Sleep Ready actively watches for patterns that warrant medical input — suspected sleep-disordered breathing, parasomnias, persistent night-time fears that may indicate anxiety disorder, suspected new seizure activity, growth or feeding concerns, signs of unrecognized neurodivergence in older children, and others.
When a pattern emerges, the family is informed and a recommendation is made to consult their paediatrician (or specialist, where one is involved). Where the family has signed a Release of Information for you, you’ll receive a brief written note describing what was observed and what was recommended.
This is the part of the work where a sleep consultancy earns or loses the trust of medical referrers. We treat it accordingly.
What a family experiences in a Sleep Ready engagement.
Detail at the level you’d want to know before recommending a colleague. If anything below would change how you’d describe Sleep Ready to a family, please reach out — we’d rather adjust the description than have it under-fit reality.
The standard engagement, step by step
- Free 15-minute discovery call with the founder. Conversational, structured around five questions about the family’s situation, goals, and constraints. No sales script.
- Comprehensive intake questionnaire — 20–30 minutes for standard sleep, 45–60 for Special Needs Sleep. Covers medical history, current medications and timing, sensory profile, feeding, sleep environment, and prior interventions.
- Custom written sleep plan delivered as a branded PDF. Calibrated specifically to the child and family — not a template with names plugged in. Includes daytime schedule, nightly routine, night-wake protocol, troubleshooting matrix, and week-by-week expectations.
- Active implementation support for 2–3 weeks (standard sleep/potty) or 4–8 weeks (Special Needs Sleep). Daily or every-other-day check-ins via the family’s preferred channel. Plan adjustments based on real nightly data.
- Engagement close when sustainable independence is reached. No automated upselling. Optional 6-month check-in for regression windows on premium engagements.
Communication and confidentiality
All communication with families is confidential and stored securely (PIPEDA-compliant). Coordination with referring practitioners requires a signed Release of Information from the family — opt-in only, naming each provider individually.
Sleep Ready does not share family information with third parties for any other purpose. The full privacy policy is at sleepready.ca/privacy.

Email request for referral materialsHow to reach us with clinical questions.
This page exists so you don’t have to go through the consumer contact form to get a clinical question answered. The contact channels below go directly to the founder, not a queue.

Mention “Referral” in the subject line and the email is routed for direct attention.
Initiating a coordinated-care referral
For families you’d like to refer where coordination would be appropriate from the start.
Email: [email protected]

A Release of Information form will be sent to the family for signature before any clinical information is exchanged in either direction.
